JAMBO DREAM OVER
For the second time in the past 4 years, Don Bosco Prep ended QP's Jambo Dream, knocking out the Griffins in the second round. Despite a valiant effort from our Boys, DBP proved to be tough down the stretch as they pulled out a 55-46 victory in Tenafly.
QP built a 7 point lead early in the third quarter, but DBP slowly clawed back to take their first lead of the game near the end of the third. The 4th quarter saw DBP slow their offense down and hit timely shots. Our Boys could get no closer than 4 from that point on.
Nonetheless this was a great effort from players and coaches alike, and all should feel proud of their accomplishment. Thanks also to all the fans who missed early Mass and made the trip to Tenafly for the Sunday morning game!
Jambo Thriller
The Golden Griffins ran into a well disciplined Garfield squad in the opener of the Bergen County Jamboree on January 28. Through the first 3 quarters our Boys couldn't grab a lead against the Boilermakers, who had them on the ropes all afternoon. But the 4th quarter belonged to Corey Kearney, as he seemed to grab every loose ball and rebound to will QP to a 45-40 victory.

For only the 2nd time since 1981, the Boys have qualified for the
Oscar F. Thompson Memorial Tournament, aka
The Bergen County Jamboree !
Our 2004 team, led by Ryan Kearney and Nate Gainer, beat Old Tappan in the opening round, but then fell to a talented Don Bosco team. Before that our last appearance was 1981, when we defeated North Arlington 48-29 in the first round, then upset top-seeded Hackensack 53-50 to advance to the semifinals. The ride was ended by Pascack Hills, who hit a foul line jumper at the buzzer to beat us 41-39.

Congratulations to Coaches Bill Schoener, Chris Boyce and Ryan McMullin, and to all the players for their efforts.
Good luck!

From Jim Hague's
Jersey High School Boys Hoops Weblog:
January 6, 2007
"Queen of Peace in North Arlington is off to a fine 6-2 start under second-year head coach Billy Schoener. The Golden Griffins were 11-13 last year, so they're well on their way to besting that mark. Corey Kearney has been averaging nearly 20 per game and Dwayne Moffatt is a solid No. 2 scorer. Moffatt had 21 in a win over Tenafly Friday night.
Unsung hero Josh Castaneda added 10 points. Castaneda, who is the
grandson of the late Kevin Hoey, the great Harrison four-sport athlete
who died a few weeks ago, does all the little things you need to have a
successful team, which QP is looking more and more like this season..."
