QP Has Options
QUEEN OF PEACE HAS OPTIONS: Gone are the days when Queen of Peace had to rely solely on scoring machine Courtney Keegan.
The Golden Griffins (12-2) have found success this season with other weapons: namely junior Brittany Turner and junior Stephany Wallace. Keegan is still averaging a hearty 18.7 points per game, but Turner is dropping in 14.5 per game and Wallace adds 11 points.
All of this pleases coach Tom Ferriero.
"Last week against Cliffside Park, Courtney only had two points at the half," he said. "A year ago, that would mean we'd be down by 10. This time we were up by seven, and that just shows we have a lot more balance."
Turner can run the floor and hit the pull-up jumper. Wallace is another fine athlete whom Ferriero said might have the best offensive instincts on the team.
"In the long run, this is all making us a better team," he said. "I like to say that Courtney is still bringing us to the dance, but now she has some dance partners."
